To deal with some legal matters in Portugal, such as real estate transactions, it is sometimes necessary to give someone (usually a lawyer) a power of attorney. That document, known in Portuguese as a "procuração", can be drawn up by the Honorary Consul in Auckland and must be signed in his presence.

Portuguese nationals considering emigration to New Zealand should consult this information sheet (in Portuguese).

There is also an Honorary Consul in Wellington, Mr Ivan McNicholl, who can be contacted on tel. (04) 384 1714 or mobile 021 679 639 email portuguese.consulate.nz@gmail.com. The Wellington Consulate can assist with ID card applications, but not with passports.

The Honorary Consul in Auckland is Mr Daniel Silva and can be reached as per the details on this page's header. Attendance is by appointment.
